DreamAngels with Motley & Crue

Just hours after we had posted on our website and Facebook page that Motley & Crue were reclassified as permanent residents, Belinda and Zoe contacted us and wanted to be their DreamAngels.  Motley and Crue are two of the sweetest ferrets but after being available for adoption for over 9 months, we decided to make them permanent residents here at our no-kill shelter. 

On a Saturday afternoon, Belinda and Zoe came to Ferret Dreams with a bag full of toys, treats, baby food and an awesome Pirate Ship.  The boys were enjoying Christmas in February.  Belinda & Zoe spent about an hour visiting and playing with Motley & Crue.  It was a fantastic visit for everyone involved. 

Our DreamAngel program is such a wonderful way to get involved with our rescue and sponsor any of our permanent residents.  Some are too old or sick to be adopted out.  Others are biters or have been tortured, abused or neglected.  They will stay with us for the rest of their lives with all their medical needs taken care of by our wonderful DreamAngels.  If you would like to be a DreamAngel, please contact us.

These three cuties were left out in the cold in front of Cavy Care Inc., our local guinea pig shelter and sanctuary.  Shannon, the President and Founder of this wonderful organization contacted us for help.  We want to thank Shannon for taking such good care of them until we were able to arrange a transfer to Ferret Dreams.

Clover

All three ferrets are approximately 2 – 3 years old and are very human friendly.  We would like to keep all three together since they all get along great.  Tebow is a Dark Sable, probably Canadian.  He is spunky and very athletic so we named him Tebow after our Denver Broncos quarterback.  Decker, is a beautiful Champagne colored male who is very sweet and easy going.  Little Miss Clover is a little Albino female who is very inquisitive and a busy-body.  We named her Clover because when she came to our rescue, she seemed to have a greenish colored fur.  After a little bath, she is now snow white and beautiful.

Struggling to cope with the recent death of his mother, young Jake Tyler retreats from his family and the world at large.  After being involved in a violent fight with some older boys at school, he winds up in the principal’s office with his father who is told that Jake might benefit from professional help.

Unfortunately, Jake’s father has been unable to help himself through the loss of his wife.  When not neglecting his son and daughter as a result, he’s furious with them.  Jesse (Jake’s sister) is so fed up with her selfish father that she moves out of the house but not without leaving a pet ferret, Jasper, to keep her brother company.

Jake & Jasper become fast friends as the two develop a strong bond.  Yet just as this companionship seems on the verge of prying Jake from his shell, his father threatens to take Jasper away.

With the thought of losing his best pal, Jake decides to run away from home and the two get lost in a nearby forest.  Then when darkness falls Jake & Jasper not only lose each other in the woods, they nearly lose their lives.

Ferret Dreams Rescue & Adoption will be there too!  Come meet some of our ferrets!  We’ll be selling Totally Ferret Food and other Merchandise including the new short film “Jake & Jasper - A Ferret Tale”,  to raise money for our Medical Fund. 

Motley & Crue are a bonded pair and must be adopted out together. Motley is an Albino male approximately 3 years old and Crue is a Dark-Eyed White male who is also about 3 years old.  They are a very mellow pair who just like to hang out with each other and their human companions.  Motley and Crue unfortunately do not get along with other ferrets.  Motley has an old foot injury that has healed and still manages to get around just fine .  Crue has an enlarged spleen but according to our Veterinarian, there is no health issue at this time.  Motley & Crue will be covered under our medical plan for Motley’s foot and Crue’s spleen only.  If you are interested in this pair, please contact us for further information about them and our medical plan.

Update: February 15,2011 –

Motley & Crue have been available for adoption since May 2011.  Although we had several inquiries to adopt them, none were appropriate or approved.  After 9 month on the available list, we have made the decision to make them permanent residents.  It is unfortunate since they are so sweet and laid back.  Motley’s foot injury and Crue’s enlarged spleen seems to be the reasons they were constantly overlooked, even though these medical conditions were covered under our medical plan. 

Motley and Crue would love to have a DreamAngel to be a part of their lives.  Our DreamAngel program is a wonderful way to sponsor any of our permanent residents.  For only a minimum 6 month commitment and a minimum $10 a month, you can sponsor this pair of cuties.  As their DreamAngel you get to help us with their care here at our no-kill shelter.  You can visit them whenever you wish and shower them with toys, treats, bedding or just a lot of hugs and kisses.  Please contact us if you would like to be their DreamAngel.  Thank you!

ChiChi and Pebbles came in with a ferret named Monty who was a little older than these 2 girls.  Jenn contacted us and was interested in adopting Monty for her elderly ferret.  Unfortunately, after only a couple of weeks, Jenn’s ferret passed away suddenly.  Monty was now left alone with no one to cuddle with.   Without hesitation, Jenn was willing to reunite Monty with ChiChi & Pebbles and give all 3 a permanent home together.  We want to thank Jenn for adopting these wonderful ferrets.  What a happy ending!

Allie

Allie and Dew Drop are a bonded pair and must be adopted out together. Both are very gentle and loving and should do well in a home with other ferrets.
Allie is a 2 year old albino female. She loves to nap on your lap or snuggle up with other ferrets. Allie is very laid back.
Dew Drop is a 1 year old dark eyed white adorable female who has a gray stripe down her back. She is extremely friendly and loves to play with humans and other ferrets. Dew Drop is very inquisitive and likes to follow you around to find out what’s going on.

Dew Drop

On February 6th, we finalized the adoption of Pip & Peek with their new owner Nick.  Nick made several trips to our rescue for interviews and to meet some of our available ferrets for adoption.  After several weeks, we finally found a good match with Pip & Peek.  We appreciate Nick’s patience with our adoption process and his willingness to be open to our suggestions and recommendations. 

Thank you Nick for giving these two boys a loving home and for your generous donation to our Medical Fund.

Apollo

Apollo is a 9 month old baby boy who was surrendered to Ferret Dreams along with his buddy Cosmo.  It is unknown

 how Apollo was injured but our Veterinarian guesses that he was either dropped, stepped on or squeezed very tightly.  He has nerve and muscle damage to his back and hind legs.  Apollo spent 3 days in the hospital and is now slowly recovering here at Ferret Dreams.  We feel that he will make a complete recovery but it may be slow.  He is hand fed 3 times a day and is given time out to exercise his legs two times a day.  He is now able to walk slowly and his pain seems to have lessened.  His personality is starting to emerge as he starts to feel better.  He will hopefully make a full recovery and will soon be available for adoption along with Cosmo.

Thank you to all who support our Medical Fund.  It is because of your generosity and through your support that Cosmo was able to get all the medical attention he needed.  Apollo would not be alive today without our Medical Fund which will continue to help him and all the other sick and injured ferrets that come our way. 

Update:

On February 6th, Apollo was helped over the bridge to end his suffering and pain.  The last couple days of his life were very difficult for him.  We rushed him to Dr. LaBonde for evaluation and we made the decision to take Apollo to Colorado State University Veterinary Hospital.  Several MRI’s were taken along with a Spinal Tap to try to determine the exact location of injury or condition.  Nothing was found and the decision was made to end his suffering.  A necropsy is now being performed so that we may have some answers and to also be able to help ferrets in the future.  It is tragic to lose a ferret at any age but when we lost Apollo, at 9 months old, we were devastated.  We want to thank Dr. Jerry LaBonde for all his help and support during this time.  We never gave up on Apollo and had so many hopes and dreams for him. 

To Apollo:

We only had you for 1 month but you touched our hearts and filled them with love and with sorrow.  We loved holding you and feeding you.  We loved the feel of your soft fur and big gentle paws.  You were such a good boy who left us too soon.  Please wait for us for we will one day meet again, to sing, to dance, to play….

Coco & Tomoko

Coco is a 4 year old female ferret who is looking for a home with another ferret or two.  Coco’s cagemate recently passed away due to kidney failure.  Coco is really needing another friend to hang out with.  She is extremely friendly with people but is very particular when it comes to other ferrets.  Coco will stress out if another ferret wants to play or is constantly in her face.  She prefers a very laid back ferret who she can interact with but on her terms.  She especially loves to have a sleeping buddy to cuddle with and to groom.  Please contact us if you are interested in giving Coco a loving, permanent home.

 On Saturday, February 11th, Coco went to a wonderful home, with a great mom and dad and a new ferret friend.  We want to thank Brian & Tomoko for adopting Coco and we wish them all many years of happiness.
